There were five of us.
I am not sure if all of them are registered on MAS.
anyways...here goes.
A couple of us from Pune had a good short collection trip not too far away from the city.
The place we collected is in khadkwasla and are two small ponds on the road that connect Uttam Nagar ( ahead of Warje) and Khadakwasla on Sinhagad road.
The Habitat
We started with the first pond the right.
We had carried a DIY net made out of mosquito net (courtesy Humaid). The first catch yielded many many shrimps and Parambassis dayi(?). No body fancied them hence we let them go.
We also netted unided species of goby that has been picked up by Omprakash. No decent pic of it as of now.
Second catch yielded a few tilapias along with the same species listed above. Humaid picked the tilapias for his FH.
There were a lot of Puntius sp. [?] too. Could'nt id it though.
Later we shifted the base to the second pond.
Caught a lot of small fish which looked liked Dwarf Gourami in shape. They are with me and I will post the pics in a day or two once they are settled in.
Second catch in the same pond yielded this.
Can someone please id this?
We threw in the net one more time and caught some more gourami look alikes.
Just as we were about to move out, we noted another some puddle sort of water body. Not expecting much from that we peeped in and saw lot of tilapias hiding for cover.
We moved closer and shubhankar spotted a cluster of fries in the vegetation. They yellow lateral line on their body was conspicuous.
Carefully moving in and casting our net yielded this.
